About TK Agri

About

This project aims to uplift traditional knowledge (TK) and its integration into modern research and education in Ethiopia. The project will specifically focus on plant agribiologicals and encompass research, science communication and capacity-building parts. The project is supported by the SLU Global Seed Money grant.

Activities:

  1. Survey with focus group discussions: The survey aims to map the TK of agribiologicals in Ethiopia, focusing on identifying plants traditionally used as agribiologicals and documenting their methods of utilisation and preparation.
  2. Creation of research popularisation materials: Leveraging Ethiopia’s recent emphasis on incorporating traditional knowledge into education, a science popularisation video is produced, complemented by the development of school and public lectures.
  3. Knowledge exchange: mini-symposium in Ethiopia: The final activity aims to consolidate the previous efforts by bringing together all stakeholders for a mini-symposium filled with insightful presentations and discussions.

OUR MISSION

To drive innovation in sustainable agriculture by advancing agrobiologicals – harnessing nature-based solutions to improve food security, strengthen climate resilience, and reduce reliance on conventional inputs. We connect knowledge, people, and projects across borders, with a strong commitment to making a positive impact in Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.
